October 2, 2013 - Tour Outside Zurich

As planned, we visited Mount Titlis and Peggy and JC visited Junfraujoch.  It was a cloudy day, however it did not rain as predicted by the Weather Web Site. Mount Tatlis trip started at 9:30AM and Junfraujoch trip started at 8:30AM.  For Mount Titlis trip, we were able to have a relaxing breakfast and then walked to the Silquai Bus Terminal which was pretty close to our hotel Best Western Hotel Montana.  We did not have any issue of finding our bus as some of previous travelers complained.   

The guide can speak several languages clearly and was very pleasant to listen to.  However, she is too clam and did not give much instructions regarding "what is next".  We just had to watch and follow her constantly.  They put 3 different groups in the same bus, therefore we have to make stops and de-route to drop of some people and pick more people in Lucerne.  She provided a brief tour of Lion Mountain which we visited last time when we were in Lucerne.  Then she gave us 45 minutes free time in Lucerne, and we could only walk by the famous Chapel Bridge for photos.  Then we waited additional 15 minutes for her.  She was late due to picking up additional people from Lucerne.  Then we stopped by Mount Pilatus to drop off the people visiting Mount Pilatus.  Another half hour drive, we finally got to Mount Titlis.  

From the base of Mount Titlis, we had to take 3 different rides to get to the top of Mount Titlis.  The first one is a 4-6 people gondola to the Trubsee station, the second one is a cable car to the Stand Station.  The last stretch is the Titlis Rotair rotating gondola which took us up to the top station at 2030 meters.  

At the top of Mount Titlis, you can take another chairlift - Ice Flyer to have a spectacular view into the icy depths of the glacier.  There is a Glacier Park on the top where you can do some snow tubing.  One can also walk across the Titlis Cliff Walk which is a spectacular suspension bridge high up at the peak.  There is Glacier Cave too, however, most of the ice sculptures were melted. 

On the way up to the top of Mount Titlis and on the way down the base, we passed through the cloud from gloomy weather to sunny weather.  The feeling is indescribable and wonderful.

We got back to Zurich around 7PM and brought food for dinner.
